Women In Cloud Sweden is a bcross-industry initiative with the goal of creating a more inclusive and equal cloud-industry.. This is in order to attract and retain more women in the industry who are at a formative stage with great potential. This initiative is important as we will not only address the inequality within the industry, but above all help to actively inspire a career in cloud.
IT industry as a whole has since its inception been male-dominated. According to Statistics Sweden the number of women in tech industrysectorthe only 30% in 2021. From the same survey but with a focusfocus on department femalefemale managers so in tech industry only 29%(TechSverige, 2022)
But the ITindustry contains many different elements where this initiative has been to focus on the Swedish cloud industry. It is also a part of the ITindustry with a high rate of development and change where new technologies like AI are entering and where security is becoming increasingly important.
According to Tech Sweden’s latest report there will be between year 2024 to 2028, approximately 18,000 specialists will be needed annually in tech, where among others cloud expertise is in high demand according to the charts in their report (TechSverige, 2024). Here we want to Women In Cloud Sweden wants to be involved and contribute to address the skills shortage but at the same time also actively inspire to a career in cloud.
