Today, 8 March, is International Women’s Day. Every year, UN Women chooses a theme, and this year’s theme is Gender Equality for a Sustainable Future. A theme that fits well with Zelly’s vision to be the market-leading cloud provider with climate-smart cloud services. With the goal to:

  • Changing the way people consume climate-smart cloud services.
  • The ideal workplace for driven girls and guys who are passionate about cloud
  • Be at the forefront of innovation, digitalization and data-driven decisions

“It’s obviously a lofty vision, but I feel that this is where Zelly AB can really contribute to the big climate issue. The vision was created when we heard that Microsoft would open up sustainable data centers in Sweden. Our immediate reaction was that this was something that was important for Zelly as a leading Microsoft partner to be a part of. Now we have the goal of moving all our customers to the Swedish data center. When it comes to gender equality, we have come some way but of course want more. When we started the company, we were male-dominated in the early years and that of course left its mark on the corporate culture. In recent years, we have recruited several women into the organization and into leading positions, which has affected the culture in a positive way and I think we have created a work culture where both girls and guys who are passionate about the cloud will thrive, “says Rickard Rosén CEO of Zelly AB.

According to data from UN Women, there is a crucial link between gender, social equality and climate change where the conclusion is that without gender equality today, a future & equal future remains out of reach. Read more about UN Women’s statement here.

International Women’s Day is also a day to celebrate the women in our lives and in our workplaces. The IT industry has been unequal since its inception and the industry is working together to attract more women to the IT profession. Gender equality is an important issue for us at Zelly and we are proud to currently have 50% women in senior positions which is above industry standard. We believe that female leadership sets a good foundation for attracting more female employees to Zelly. We are also a proud partner of Microsoft, which is at the forefront of female leadership and role models.

“Gender equality and sustainability are issues close to my heart. I feel proud to be part of the IT industry that has long worked with both issues. During my time at Zelly, I have also been able to work closely with Microsoft, which is a good role model when it comes to this. I am convinced that these issues are important to be an attractive workplace that cloud talents want to work at to in turn make our vision possible to achieve. I feel proud to work at Zelly and with these issues”, says Laura Johnsson HR & Communications Manager at Zelly AB.
