Women In Cloud Sweden is a cross-industry initiative with the goal of creating a more inclusive and equal cloud industry. Women In Cloud Sweden is a cross-industry initiative with the goal of creating a more inclusive and equal cloud industry. This is to attract and retain more women in the industry who are in a moldable stage with great potential.
This initiative is important as we will not only address the inequality within the industry, but above all help to actively inspire a career in the cloud.
The IT industry as a whole has been male-dominated since its inception.
According to Statistics Sweden, the number of women in the tech industry is only 30% in 2021. According to the same survey, but focusing on female managers, only 29% in the tech industry (TechSverige, 2022)
But the IT industry contains many different parts where this initiative has been to focus on the Swedish cloud industry. It is also a part of the IT industry with a high rate of development and change where new technologies such as AI are entering and where security is becoming increasingly important.
According to Tech Sweden’s latest report, between 2024 and 2028, approximately 18,000 specialists in tech will be needed annually, where, among other things, cloud skills are in high demand according to the charts in their report (TechSverige, 2024). Women In Cloud Sweden wants to contribute to addressing the skills shortage but also actively inspire people to pursue a career in the cloud.
